The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets 54-27 at Pinetop on Friday. The win improved Winslow’s record to 8-4 and dropped Blue Ridge to a 5-11 mark for the season.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a fast start and led 14-3 after the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs had twice as many points in the first half as the Blue Ridge girls, leading 26-13. The margin was even greater after three quarters at 42-18. Brianna Little led all scorers with 14 points for Winslow. Justine Butterfield with 10 points was also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs and Emerilee Cowboy scored nine for the victors. Blue Ridge was led by Sierra Tenijieth with 10 points.
The Lady Bulldogs were to host the Payson Lady Longhorns on Tuesday and go to Holbrook to meet the Lady Roadrunners on Thursday. They will host the Show Low Lady Cougars on Tuesday, Jan. 16, then go to Tuba City to meet the Lady Warriors on Wednesday in the first on four straight road games. The others are at Snowflake on Friday, Jan. 19, at Page on Thursday, Jan. 25 and at Payson on Friday, Jan. 26.
The last two games of the January portion of the schedule will be played in Winslow against the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and against the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
