Wayne Irving Snyder passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 9, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with illness. A private family celebration was held.
He was born Dec. 24, 1935.
Wayne married the love of his life, May, on June 7, 1959, after serving in the U.S. Air Force and returning to the states, where he started his career with Safeway.
In 1965, Wayne and May, along with their three children, moved to Holbrook, where he was the Safeway manager until 1972. They then opened Snyder’s Music Center, a local favorite of many! After a few years, they sold the store and Wayne went to work at the Arizona Public Service Co. Cholla Power Plant, where he retired after 20 years.
Wayne had many hobbies, including gardening, fishing and music. His greatest joy was his wife and large family.
He will be very missed by those whose lives he has touched…and there were many.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, May; his daughters, Beverly (Karl), Debbie (Berry) and Brenda (KC); 11 grandchildren; and 9½ great-grandchildren.
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
