Washington School Walk-a-Thon is scheduled October 27 at WHS

The 10th annual Washington Elementary School Walk-A-Thon will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at the Winslow High School football field. This annual fundraiser is not only a way to earn money for the school, but is also a day full of activities aimed to promote health and fitness. Fitness and health related non-profit organizations are invited to participate in the walk-a-thon by hosting an educational booth for students to visit and learn about various aspects of health and fitness.

The funds raised in the past have helped support many of the positive behavior programs on campus such as Student of the Month, the Hi-5 Program, Thumbs up Grades Up, the Positive Awards with Support (PAWS) Program, Field Day and more. For the last two years, the school has been able to provide all of the students with a school T-shirt because of the success of the walk-a-thon.

The mission is to create a safe and positive school environment where all students can learn and be successful. This is a great community event that centers around students. Support for the Washington School Walk-a-Thon can also be given by donating funds or volunteering time on the day of the event.

Please contact the school office for more information on hosting a booth, making a donation or volunteering your time on the day of the event. Call (928) 288-8600 or email Principal John Summerville at jsummerville@wusd1.org.
