Run for the Wall riders will visit area next week

By Linda Kor

Riders participating in the annual Run for the Wall will be coming through Winslow and Holbrook on Thursday, May 18. Each year hundreds of motorcyclists participate in this event as they make their way to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

These riders will arrive in Winslow at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. They will take Exit 252 of Interstate 40 to drive east on Second Street to fuel up at Flying J Travel Plaza before heading out of town. They will then arrive in Holbrook at 11:15 a.m., taking Exit 285, and travel through town past the elementary schools before arriving at American Legion Post No. 37, where the riders will be served lunch prepared by members of the women’s auxiliary and other volunteers.

The public is invited to welcome riders along the route and visit at the Legion Hall to thank them for their service to our country and their efforts in bringing recognition to those who sacrificed their lives in their service.
