Dating back to their final game before the holiday break, the Lobos have now put together a small winning streak with wins in their first two contests of the new calendar.
Playing at Payson on Friday night the Lobos had little problems with the 29th ranked Longhorns taking them down 84-51. Eleven players on the Snowflake roster scored in the contest led by Mile Bahe with 17 points. Dylan Ervien had 12; Jared Fusselman, 8; Dylan Kay, 8; Taden Flake, 8; Trever Willis, 7; Jake Christensen, 7; Kolton Solomon, 6; Garrett Wood, 6; Nathan Kay, 3; and Jeben Lewis helped with 2.
Snowflake shot well in the contest making 57 percent of their field goals and 12 of 19 free-throws.
Saturday’s road game at 24th ranked Monument Valley was a closer contest, with the Lobos coming out on top 52-40 in a tough place to play.
Wood led the charge with 14 points followed closely by Flake with 13 with 14 rebounds. Dylan Kay added 9; Christensen, 5; Miles Bahe, 4; Willis, 3; Ervien, 3; and Fusselman had one free-throw. Snowflake shot poorly from distance making only 19 percent of their three attempts, but they nailed 54 percent of their two-point attempts and went five for 11 at the line.
With those two wins, Snowflake entered Tuesday’s home contest against Holbrook with an overall record balanced at 9-9. They are 4-3 in power ranking contests leaving them sitting in 13th position at the onset of the week. On Friday they travel to Show Low, then will begin a four game home stand when Thatcher visits on Saturday. Next Tuesday the Lobos welcome in top ranked Blue Ridge.
