Lawerence J. Petersen, 78, passed away on Jan. 28, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends in Gilbert.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Pinedale Cemetery in Pinedale.
Lawerence “Larry” was born in Standard, Arizona, on Sept. 20, 1939, to Don Lorenzo and Mada Maud Petersen. He was a premature baby weighing less than four pounds. He was the youngest of four children. Larry graduated from Snowflake High School in 1957, where he met his first wife, Wanda Rhineheart. They married in Mesa and together raised five daughters in Lakeside. He was a graduate of Arizona State College (now Northern Arizona University) and received a Masters in Accounting from Arizona State University.
He worked diligently for several decades as a certified public accountant. In 1989, Larry married his second wife, Stella McGee in Pinedale welcoming her four children into his life.
He is survived by his wife Stella of 28 years; sister, Ina Hancock; daughters, Vicki Hall, Kami Nikolaus, Dana Gardner, Amy Hathcock and Krissi Crowther; step-children, Lee Gardner, Ricky Gardner, Roy Gardner and Katie Fernau; 20 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his beloved dog Little Bit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Jean McMullin and Marvin Petersen.
Larry leaves behind an inspiring legacy for his family and friends. His caring heart, sense of humor, endless work ethic, fatherly guidance, strong will, and selflessness will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Wyman Cremation and Burial Chapel of Mesa handled the arrangements.
