First year Head Coach Aaren LaRose has taken over the reins of the Lady Roadrunner volleyball program. Her assistants are Louann McLaws and Shantina Kinlicheenie.
LaRose inherited a team that has struggled the past two seasons, but she has some veteran returning players on the roster. The varsity squad includes seniors Allison Duffy, Carla Plumb, Destany Begay, Kendra Monroe, Lexy Beltran and MaKenzie Thompson; juniors Jovon Boling, Sevannah Bitahy, Shaylynn Begay and Sydney Plumb; and sophomores Madison Chappell and Olivia Richins.
Players currently on the junior varsity team include Matehya Aberle, Georgia Benally, Gabrielle Chee, Alicia Dayea, Elaina Gray, Jyllian Hall, Krysteena Hooker, Natasha McLaws, Rashawna Nez and Skyla Williams.
Those on the freshman team are Kaibah Clark, Mika Joe, Trinity Jones, Layiah Kayonnie, Joycelynn Thomas, Audrey Wahl, Cara Wilson and Tatiana Yazzie.
“My varsity team has some girls returning from last season. Our primary goal for this season is to get back into the state tournament; we’ve missed our chance to attend for the past two years and we’d love to get the Holbrook volleyball program back in the state tournament,” said Coach LaRose.
“I believe we have a strong group of hard working girls from our freshmen to seniors. We also have a new coaching staff, but I am positive we will get the job done with these athletes. We look forward to start off this season on a strong note.”
Holbrook opens the campaign on Saturday, Aug. 26, with a doubleheader in Page.
