George Kalisz, 88, passed away on Christmas Day, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1929, in Lorain, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Desert View Baptist Church in Winslow.
George was a Korean War veteran and an electrical contractor. He built a Pitts Biplane and enjoyed flying. He was a past president of the Winslow Rotary, a Dale Carnegie graduate and a Toastmaster. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Combat Infantry Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
George held solar patents and built two houses and co-authored books on solar energy with Dr. Ryan. He developed two factories on the Navajo Reservation and was a field engineer for the Department of Energy. George was a ham radio operator. He was a 50-year member of the Christian church.
He is survived by his son, John (Diane) Kalisz of California; daughter, Judith (Gary); and grandson Matthew MacLeod of Boston, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his wives Ruth and Sharon; and daughter Janet.
