Bryant Dean Mattox (Uncle Bryant), 36, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Nov. 29, 2017, from unknown causes. He was born on July 11, 1981, in Winslow to Coy Mattox Sr. and Ilene Foster.
A public viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Zion Baptist Church in Winslow. Funeral services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the First Baptist Church in Winslow.
He attended Winslow High School, graduating in 1999. He was employed at Walmart for many years and was most recently a car man at Midland Railway Supply.
He enjoyed so much in life, riding ATVs, exploring, fishing, swimming, boating and grilling. But more importantly, hanging out with friends and reminiscing at a good barbecue.
He was a beloved brother, trusted friend and confidant. He always made sure his family, friends and even strangers were taken care of, often guiding and mentoring those in need. He stood up for people when no one else would. He was the reassuring go-to guy that helped people feel safe, secure and all would be okay.
Maternal survivors include his mother Ilene Ochoa; sister, Brandi Mattox; brother, Carlos Ochoa; gram, Benna Dean Foster; niece and nephews, Shilene Mattox, Daenonrey Davis, Samuel Mattox and Robert Nuckolls.
He also leaves behind numerous other brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his dog Charlie Brown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Coy Mattox Sr. and his aunt, Jessie Mae Smith.
