Belva Linda “Quingvee” Wahwassuck, 72, of Mayetta, Kan., passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at her home. Sunrise graveside services were held July 4 at Prairie Peoples Cemetery on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation.
She was born Dec. 7, 1944, in Polacca, the daughter of Jacob B. and Beulah (Naha) Coochise.
Belva had lived on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation since 1997 and previously in Polacca. She was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a member of the Hopi Tribe and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Kaw Valley.
Belva married Merriell V. Wahwassuck Sr. on Sept. 24, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her six children, Merriell V. Wahwassuck Jr. (Michelle) of Teestoh, Anna M. Boswell (Michael), Cosette Wahwassuck, Jon Wahwassuck, Brandon Wahwassuck and Michael Wahwassuck (Dawn), all of Mayetta; a sister, Verlinda Adams of Polacca; two brothers, George Coochise of Winslow and Elbridge Coochise of Phoenix; and 15 grandchildren, Jeremiah Wahwassuck, Marlena Wahwassuck, Myra Wahwassuck, Trevor Wahwassuck, Logan Boswell, Kacie Boswell, Taryn Boswell, Madison Boswell, Wyatt Boswell, Draven Wahwassuck, Sophia Wahwassuck, Jacob Wahwassuck, Gabriel Wahwassuck, Soonwy Wahwassuck and Taavi Wahwassuck.
Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, Kan., was in charge of the arrangements.
